"CHILDREN OF THE STATE" AT EAST DOC PLATFORM

 

On the East European Forum 2014 were filed more than 130 projects, of which the selection committee chose only 8. Among them - the ARTVIDEO studio director's Nikita Tikhonov-Rau and Olga Arlauskas "Children of the state".

 

Total Russia will be represented at pitching by 2 project: "Children of the state" and "The Key to A Clockwork Orange" (directed by Gregory Grishin, Olga Yakovleva).

 

East European Forum is held in the 14th time , the third time - within East Doc Platform, organized by the Institute of Documentary Film (IDF) in Prague, Czech Republic.

 

After a short preparatory series of master classes, the authors will present their projects to representatives of European and American television, foundations, film festivals, distributors, as well as potential co-production partners.

 

Besides Russian participants at the Forum will featured projects from Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Romania, Poland, UK, Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Germany.

 

Forum will be held from 3 to 9 March 2014 in Prague, Czech Republic.

"CHILDREN OF THE STATE" ON INPUT-2013

 

Russian Documentary projects pitching was held within INPUT session at 16th December 2013.

 

The pitching involved 14 projects, among which was the ARTVIDEO studio's "Children of the state" (directed by Olga Arlauskas, Nikita Tikhonov-Rau). After Pitching several master-classes by world famous producers and distributors were held.

"CHILDREN OF THE STATE" AT THE MOSCOW BUSINESS SQUARE

 

On the 26th of June, as part of a business platformof the 35th Moscow International Film Festival, the Moscow Business Square held a DAY OF DOCUMENTARY FILM. The event was organized with the participation of the Russian Documentary Guild specifically for the professional community and included several multi-format events, including: the pitching of documentary projects, a master class on "Fundamentals of documentary film distribution " and a round table on "Rental of the documentary films in Russia."

 

Simona Baumann, the representative of German Films, who told the audience about the main objectives European pitching, became the moderator of the pitching forum.

 

The experts were: Klaas Daniels, program director of the DOK Leipzig festival, Heino Deckert, distributor at Deckert Distribution, and Diana Karklin, representative of Rise and Shine World Sales.

 

Studio "Artvideo" was represented by pitching its new project "The Lost Children," directed by Nikita Tikhonov-Rau and Olga Arlauskas. The film, conceived in the context of the overall political situation in the country, and in particular regarding the ban on adoption of children by American citizens, discusses the lives of orphans in Russian orphanages.

 

The project is at an early stage of development, and will include three stories that will be shot in Russia, Spain and the United States; the authors are looking for European co-producers and investors.

 

Another four proects also participated in the pitching : "Perm-36. The area of freedom", by director and producer Sergei Kachkin, "At the edge of the ice and snow", directed by Irina Zuy, "The New Silk Road", a project of Evdokia Moskvina, a producer from Russia, Vladislav Ketkovich, and a producer from Estonia, Max Tuula and "Sing" by Olga Korotkaya.

 

Then there was a master-class on "The Fundamentals of Documentary Film Distribution" on one of the ways to promote documentary films abroad in cooperation with the sales-agents.

 

The final event at the Moscow Business Square was a round table on the "Rental of documentary films in Russia," which was moderated by the Vice-President of the Russian Documentary Guild, Nikita Tikhonov-Rau. Film distribution companies were represented by Vasilisa Orestova, the CEO of cinema network "Moschino" and Makar Kozhuhov, the - CEO of TopFilm Distribution. On behalf of the specialized sites were Irina Shatalova, the head of the Film Club Network "DOCER" and Sophia Gudkova, the head of the first cinema documentary film Centre of Documentary Film, Vera Obolonkin, General producer of the TV channel 24DOC represented Russian television, and Gregory Libergal - curator of the documentary section of the Moscow International Film Festival, represented the festival movement.

 

The experts shared their impressions of the documentary film, and the discussion was alive with the active participation of audience.
